THE ONCE GLORIOUS RIVER - A Poem on How we are Ruining Nature

Hello, and welcome to another blog from Comic Chronicles. As you know, saving Mother Earth is one of the greatest concerns that we as humans face. Without Earth, there is no home for us, and without a home, we can not exist. Therefore, through our Mother Earth, we are responsible for our own fate.

However, we still carelessly do things that unknowingly damage the environment, without knowing that we are placing a risk in front of us. We know that for our own safety, for the safety of our animals and our home, we have to protect our planet, starting form the environment around us. Yet we misuse the precious resources Nature gives us, and ruining the Earth for ourselves, as well as for our fellow humans and other animals. The following poem, written by me, depicts one such incident of how such a precious resource can be wasted and degraded into being useless. This deprives us of an opportunity to use these resources for our own welfare. The poem is titled, 'The Once Glorious River', and here it goes:

THE ONCE GLORIOUS RIVER

Back then in this forest

beautiful like butterflies,

Millions of creatures

flocked to the waters.

The river was as precious as a gem,

A gift from God,

The animals were devotees,

Grateful for this fruitful gift.

As it splished and splashed

On its odyssey to the sea,

It danced through while the animals

took fresh sips from it.

This forest and the river

Made a good home for the animals.

But there are none there now,

nor a forest or a river.

The forest was cleared for a city,

trees chopped down for paper,

And all the animals breathed their last,

As their skins and meat were taken.

And as for the river, this glorious gift

has been ruined by humans.

The pure , crystal-clear water

is now made dirty and unclean.

Now there lies a sewer,

In a flourishing city,

But it’s shocking to know that this impure water,

Was once so glorious.
