The Land of the Rising Sun: Why Japan is a Dream Place for Me

Hello Everyone, and welcome to another episode of Comic Chronicles. Today I decided to write something regarding the topic of travel, as I share with you about my dream tourist destination, the one and only Land of the Rising Sun, the breath-taking island nation of Japan, and why I want to visit the place.

First, let me share some facts about Japan.
  1. Japan is an island nation in Asia, neighbouring China and both the Koreas, as well as the northern (Siberian) region of Russia. It is 377,970 sq. km (145,935 sq. mi), smaller than the U.S. State of California!
  2. Japan is referred to by its citizens in Japanese as Nippon or Nihon (日本), meaning 'Sun's Origin'. Japan is also nicknamed 'Land of the Rising Sun'. Both of these names are due to the fact that the Japanese believed that Japan was the land that the very first sunrays shone on.
  3. Japan has the world's most populous city (Tokyo), the world's largest fish market, and even the world's busiest railway station (Shinjuku Station). Also, the world's oldest company that is still running, originated from Japan (Kongo Gumi, a construction company.).
The main reason why I've always wanted to visit Japan is that it's a place where modern meets ancient. Japan is one of the most technologically advanced places in the world, with great technological revolutions both in electronics and architecture (More on that in the coming section), all while keeping its unique culture and traditions, and embracing its deep history. Here, we'll be looking at these two aspects of Japan, which I feel are two polar opposites that somehow blend perfectly in the nation.

First comes the technological aspect of Japan. Japan, as I have mentioned before, is one of the world's most technologically advanced sectors. I have learnt that life in Japan is actually a decade into the future. How? There are countless things that makes Japan a technological and architectural heaven, especially for a tch kid like me.
  • Bullet Trains: While the rest of the world only starts to explore to concept of maglev trains, Japan has already accomplished this. These trains dominate the railway sector in Japan, and over 300,000,000 people commute through such trains. Why? Well, these trains can travel over 300 km/h, one of the fastest transportation modes in the world.
  • Robots: Japan has many robots that serve in restaurants and malls. They use AI to analyse your face expressions and gestures to guess your mood, and even behave accordingly! It's a terrific choice in my opinion.
  • Home Convenience Tech: Other than these, there are innovative solutions at home. We're talking about self-cleaning mirrors and toilets that can adjust the right conditions for you, and even monitor your health by your urine and checking your blood pressure!
  • Architecture: Japan's location on the Earth is an unfortunate one, as it is prone to volcanic eruptions, and worse, earthquakes. Luckily, the incredibly innovative Japanese have come up with building designs that are actually earthquake-proof!
Now we come to the historical aspect of Japan. Japan has a deep history in its roots. I do not know much about Japan and it's history, but I would love to visit the place to know more about its history and cultures, such as the gallant samurais and the military rulers called shoguns. I find it really exciting.

If you are a person who is a techy person and one who is a fan of history, like me, then You'll find Japan really exciting. Thank you for reading this article, and I hope you leave convinced that Japan is really unique and exciting.
