The Dunning-Kruger Effect: The learning Curve

Image
Hello, and welcome to another article of Comic Chronicles!  Learning is one of the most common processes seen in every human. Of course, we learn something new all the time, starting from the very day we get born. We often associate learning with simply collecting new information. This is partially true, but learning also has a second dimension: The confidence gained or lost during the learning process. Already seems confusing? Well, not to worry, in this article we'll be talking about the Learning Process in both dimensions in detail, with something known as the Dunning-Krugger effect. The above is a visual representation of the learning process, which we will be looking at in Detail: 1. Starting out: When you learn something, of course you learn from the basics, which is meant to be easy, and, of course, when you find something easy, your confidence gains. 2. Mount Stupid: This is where your initial confidence gets you; To a point where you know almost nothing yet, yet you feel o...

A brief detail on my coding journey

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to another article of Comic Chronicles! If you read my "About me" page, you would know that coding is one of my main interests. I have started learning coding from a really young age, and it was a field which came of much interest to me since the very beginning. In this article, I'll be sharing with you in brief my experience with coding. I first started my experience with coding at First grade. I was introduced at that time to my first ever programming language, Scratch, during my coding classes. It was a basic and visual language, where we drag and drop blocks below one another to create a program. That was when I started getting obsessed with programming. In fact, I got so obsessed, that while we learnt how to move characters in Scratch during fourth grade, I had already made a video game, which kind of represented the classic Snake! It was labelled "DOTT (with the intentional misspell)", which I had made when I was very young. It ...

Vedic Maths - 3 Methods you can use to Do Math Calculations like a Boss!

Image
Hello everyone, welcome to Comic Chronicles! Today, I will be sharing with you something interesting. Vedic Maths. It is an effective ancient Indian mathematical practice that can be used to solve calculations almost, sometimes even more than, twice the time taken to do maths using conventional methods! Vedic Maths was first seen in one of the oldest set of Sanskrit scriptures ever, the Vedas, more specifically the Atharva Veda. Now, I will be teaching you how to: 1) Multiply 2-digit numbers much easier, 2) Square 2-digit numbers much easier, and 3) subtract certain numbers much easier. These are at the basics of Vedic Maths, and hopefully this blog will encourage you to learn more on this wonderful topic. 1) Multiplication Now, usually what we do using the conventional method would be: multiply both digits by the last digit, then the second-to-last digit, leave spaces, multiply again, leave more spaces, so on and so forth, and finally add everything. However, the Vedic Maths method fo...

Photoblog - My trip to Al-Ain

Image
Hello Everyone, welcome to Comic Chronicles. This article is a photoblog of the fun day I had in the city of Al-Ain, a city located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At the entrance of a place called Al-Ain Oasis, there is a tiny model of a castle with a mini irrigation system. It was interesting to learn about how the irrigation systems worked in old UAE. Here, my mother, my sister and I stand in front of a bunch of majestic palm trees. My family posing with a golf cart. This was the first time I actually drove a vehicle on my own!!! This is my father, my sister and I at Alain Zoo, feeding a giraffe. To be honest, both of us were frightened to see their long necks and long, dry tongues. To be honest, my trip to Alain was fascinating, and my family and I had so much fun. I really recommend coming to the city of Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates for really fun tours and trips. Thank you for reading this blog. Check out the homepage for more of my blogs. See you soon!

My trip to Sri Lanka - Travel blog

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog! Today, I will be sharing my travel experience to the country of Sri Lanka. First, let me tell you about Sri Lanka. It is an island country located to the south of India. It was formerly called Ceylon by the British. Sri Lanka is a country of many religions, the most common being Buddhism. Now, let me share my experience of going to Sri Lanka. It was 2020, and my family and I were on our way to India to visit my grandparents. However, this trip, there was a twist; we got to take a transit trip to Sri Lanka before reaching India, The period of the transit was 7 hours.  I was really excited for trip, as it was my first time travelling to another country other than India. Since it was a transit, we didn't really have to pack anything up, except for our clothes and other stuff for the trip in India. The flight from UAE to Sri Lanka took around 2 hours and 15 mins. I reached at Colombo International Airport, located in the city of Colombo, which is...

I, personally, enjoyed my stay at the resort, and would rate it a 5/5. Here I will explore certain aspects of the hotel: Location : The location of the hotel is ideal for a good staycation, surrounded by lush greenery. At the same time, many of the landmarks in Al-Ain city are just an hour away, such as the Al-Ain Zoo and Oasis, as well as the Al-Ain Mall, and much more! Honestly, the hotel's location is great. Managing Emotions is more important than you think!

Image
Credit: goodtherapy.org Hello everyone. I know my blog is named "Comic Chronicles", but this article is about something not so comic, although I would request your attention on this one. We all know what emotions are. They are the little things that influence our mind during certain situations. Emotions are neurophysiological, meaning that they influence both the state of the mind and our body. We all tend to get scared when we see something scary, for example. Our body will feel a minor adrenaline rush, our brain tends to feel a sense of temporary panic, and we often tend to jump or scream. These are all just parts of the emotion of fear, and most of the other emotions usually follow the same pattern as well. If you think that emotions are nothing but a minor part of our daily lives, then you are wrong. Emotions affect the state of mind, as you know, but also indirectly influence the decisions you make, which can happen either in a good way (such as when fear forces you to a...
